2009 Ranger

Anyone hear anything about the 2009 Ranger? I would like to order an 08 but would wait if something better was coming.

I've heard that '08 is the last year for the Ranger. No suprise... when was the last time you saw an ad on TV specificaly aimed at the Ranger. No wonder their sales have plummited in recent years. The plant is slated for closeur at the end of this model run.

ya know, i had a ranger and now have a f150, but honestly i dont think theres nothing ive done with the 150 that my ranger wouldnt do....ford needs to keep building the ranger as i think i would buy one again....id be happy if they kept the same body just throw in a diesel or a 250hp v6 like nissan ...once upon a time ford had a lease with the 4banger stick for 99 bucks a month....they sold a ton of them then with gas as it is now i bet they would sell 2 tons.....

With gas prices out of control, you would think they would hang in there with the 2.3. I think they are making a mistake with the Ranger.

It would not be the first time they discontinued a winner. The question is will they replace it to compete against the Tacoma and whatever that thing is Nissan makes? Ford has been playing follow the leader the last few years on a lot of their models. The Ranger is small compared with the competition. Don't get me wrong. Small ain't bad but Ford may have something on the drawing board that will be more competitive in the market. My .02.

Go ahead and get you a ranger. 08 will be the last of the little ranger. The replacement isn't due out to around 2010 as an F-100 and will be a mid size. So don't wait for better as there may not be nothing to wait for. Get WHILE THE GETTING'S GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even the F-100 is just a rummor at this point, a strong rummor, but still, don't count on it.

I'm guessing that they will only get rid of the Ranger name, not the vehicle.

I traded my old '81 F100 in on a '92 F150. It would be kind of cool to see the old F100 badge back on the side of a Ford Truck.

Well thats the rummor, the renger is to be replaced by a mid sized F-100 in a round 2010. The owner of my dealership went up to Detroit for a future product reveiw and they introduced the F-100 ranger replacement. It had a crewcab abd V-8 option. I said it looked to be an awesome little truck and people should flock to buy it.

ive seen a 4-door (supercrew) ranger driving around town here every now and then, it looked just like the ranger as we know it but maybe its bigger or just in the begining stages, it had all kinds of gizmos hooked up to it.....id like to see ford stuff a v-8 in there....yeah like stated above, think they are missing the boat on this one by axing the ranger

The taco has the V-8 option and the colorodo will this year, so ford has to keep pace. It would thrill me if they would bring back the manual transfer case.

Midsize F100= disaster

With oil trading at over $94.00 a bbl. do you REALLY NEED a V-8? By this time next year gas will be viewed as a bargain at $3.75/gal. if we are lucky. What did gas cost @ this time a year ago? Unless we slow our appetite for foreign oil this is only going to [and will] get worse. Unless you want to send your money to arab nations [and the terrorist organizations they are supporting] then I suggest that you re-think the idea that 'bigger is better'.
The change starts with you.

This should be required reading by everyone getting/renewing a DL.
And a test required and also requiring a passing grade to obtain.
Our incredible waste of fuel boggles my mind and steals from our grandchildren's future. A 2.3l ranger with 4x4 that will get my butt into and outa da bush, fits my quad atv on da bed, and deliver 30mpg or better seems to me to be the wave of the future, at least for the next 5 years. Hybrids aren't too far away and are being driven by economic demands. What will gas cost five years from now? $8.00gal ? More?
Bigger IS NOT the answer.
Neither is having a war machine in the Middle East squandering precious research money and stirring up the natives for a short term gain. It has made the current administration very rich, though.
And we all pay the price, either in $$$ or blood [after all, it's your kid, not mine].
Sorry to **** on everybody's parade.
My 2 cents,
da bazzman.
