LAST EDITED ON 01-Jan-01 AT 09:47 PM (EST)[p]The best I've been able do was just under 350K on my '79 F100 2wd. Ran mostly highway miles and I changed the oil every 2000 or 3000 miles and never had the motor apart. I bought it from my father at 116K in 1987 and it ran flawlessly 'til it started wapping, but still ran great. Pulled the motor out in '97. In hindsight, though, I think it may have just been spark knocking? Oh well, learning life the hard way...
375k+ and still climbing on all original (except the standard alt and batt) 1988 F150 4x4. Now if I could only keep a trans that long I would be in heaven!!!!
my buddies 88 econovan has 358 000k works on 4 cyl. the firing sequences is mess and it needs a tune up but that thing still goes! it's indistructable!
My dad's old F150 300 ran for about 200k then the odometer broke. He said he probably put another 50-75k miles on it and it still ran fine. Then he sold it!
And he beat the crap out of it. Very few highway miles. He was really mean to his truck, but its a truck and thats what its there for
We had a 76 1/2 4x4 on the ranch with 260k when an electrical fire burned the whole thing. It spent most of its life in 2nd and 3rd gear. It ran fine and was never opened up.
This thread as already been started and has about 150 or so posts on it. It's called "high mileage king" and it's in the inline six forum. Highest one in there is 500k, another is 450k and a lot are around 350k.
