Tonight after work a got into my truck and some thing were wrong with it
-ABS light stayed on
-shifts real hard into 2nd and 3rd gears
-speedometer/ odmeter isnt working under 40 mph and i think its off according to the tach
-its also pulling really hard to get it goin from stopped
-the service engine light is on
i resently installed a K&N air cleaner and a Tordano in it too> would that effect it?
anyone have a clue whats goin on with it?
It does sound like it's in limp mode. Did you by any chance unplug the MAF sensor when you installed the K&N? Did you have to unplug anything when you installed the tornado?
I suggest you put it back to stock configuration. Try the K&N if you must, but oil it very lightly. The MAF hates oil... I don't think I'd bother putting the tornado back on.
I think V10man's suggestion will help with the speedo issues.
These are all the typical symptoms of the VSS going bad - the sensor on top of the rear diff.
It's both the rear ABS sensor and the speedo sensor. Which allows the PCM to figure out how fast you're going, which effects shifting, how hard it shifts and when.
Welcome to FTE. Good observation and question for your first post!
Thanks, my 2006 Motorhome overheated on my way home from a trip, got the check guage light then limp mode.Turned out to be a stuck thermostat.Ford tech said I was his 3rd in a year.
The Superduty rear ABS and speedo sensor are the same thing. It's on top of the rear diff. It doesn't matter what transfer case you have.
That's for '99-04 as far as I know, and probably up to '07. When they put traction control into the '08, all bets are off ...
Don't know about the traction control version, but '08 F350 without traction control option and manual transfer case has sensor on top of rear axle.......
