I have a 1977 F-150 351m and want to put 460 and need to know if i need anything besides the motor mounts. I just bought a 1990 F-250 with the 460 efi and im taking the motor and wiring harness, radiator and putting it in my 77. Can i use the mounts on the f-250 on my 77 or do i have to buy new ones. Can i use the steering out of the f-250 or do i need to use the stock 77 steering. I have read alot on swaps to 78-79 but didnt know if there was a differance for the 77. Thanks any help is appreciated.
65 to 79 are basically all the same relevent to frames, steering and engines. You need to keep the 77 steering as nothing in the 90 model will do much good. The actual motor mounts may swap out, but engine perches are different from 80 on up. The 351M400 perches may be the same as a 460, so you might get lucky. I am doing the same swap in a 78 F250 currently equipped with a 460, so not much to change. I am going to use the E4OD instead of a C6.
Well in my 90 i was told it is a c6, but there are wires running to the transmission where the shift linkages go into it. The dash shows that it is a 3 speed without OD so im curious if it is a c6 or E4OD. The Transmission pans look exactly alike and i cant see any differance between the transmissions. Is there a reason why the 90 C6 would have electrical wires running in to it. My 77 doesnt have any wires running to it. If it is an E4OD will my np205 hook up to it or should i stay with the Borg Warner Transfercase.
Your probably right i didnt think of that on my 77 the nss is on the ignition switch. It was rebuilt by jasper before and i called them and they said it was a c6.
