I I have a F350 '05 with 100,000 miles on it and an automatic transmission. Every now and then it hesitates while shifting up, the RPM surge and then it shifts. It did it a few times Friday, but then I drove 1,200 miles Sunday, some with a trailer and had no problems. Transmission is due a service (not over due, last one less than a year ago and about 30,000 miles ago) fluid is still the original red color and has no burnt smell.
Do I have a torque converter problem? If so do I fix it straight away or will it die slowly?
I used a Superchips tuner to read DTCs, none were detected. Do you have any other suggestions/ideas? Do I wait for it to get worse? I would hate to go to a dealer and have a complete transmission job if I did not need it.
