Have a 2wd pull truck (no street time). Currently it has the stock F250 spindles with 8 lugs. We were wondering if it is possible to switch to half ton spindles? We have access to a lot more wheels with the fewer lugs and we would also like to put smaller wheels.
I believe the 1/2 ton spindles have a 7/8" kingpin whereas the larger trucks have 1". I have heard of guys sleeving the beam with bearing bronze to run the 1/2 ton spindles and smaller kingpin, but it's some pretty precise work.
On another note - if you run 81-82 F-150 spindles (un-equal length beams, yet still kingpin) you can get the 1" kingpin with the 5x5.5 lug pattern - but I believe these spindles are front steer and that opens up a different can of worms.
