Console temp display reads -40

Hi, I am new to this site and to Fords for that matter. I just got a 03 6.0 Supercab and the digital temp reading on the console is not changing. It stays at -40. The truck has been in a slight accident. Did they forget to hook something up?
Thanks!!!!

Temp sensor probe is disconnected, damaged or missing.

I have the same problem. basically all of the time it says -40 but some times (rarely) it reads the right temp. Does anybody know where this sensor is located so i can fix it?

I believe it is on the front of the truck behind the grill.

Yes, if someone could tell us exactly where the sensor is located, that would be very helpful. I'm sure that is the problem.
Thanks

This a pic from monsta's gallery of an ambient air temperature sensor on an Expedition. I'm pretty sure the sensor is on the drivers side for the Superduties and Excursions. Behind the grille in front of the condenser on the driver side for the Superduties and Excursions. Opposite of the Expeditions location.

It is on the driver's side just behind the grill. Looks just like that in the picture.
