Introduction

I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been lurking for a few weeks and have been searching general information while searching for our new Ex.

We finally found what we were looking for and just drove it home. It will be my wifes DD and is replacing her 94 1/2ton Sub.

Details:
2001 Excursion Limited (35K miles, White)
7.3 PSD, Auto
8" lift, 38" tires
Banks exhaust, chip, inlet, gauges, etc

I still have a bunch of learning to do and a few projects on the truck. I have to start with a rear lock actuator and double checking all of the lift and suspension hardware for loose nuts, bolts, etc. I will be changing the oil and fuel filter soon and still need to do some searching on recommendations for those also. So far, very happy and excited to be here.

Do I have to be a paid member to start a sig?

Michael

Michael,

Welcome to FTE and in particular the Excursion forum. You will find a great bunch of folks in here and all are willing to share where we can. The knowledge spans all facets...I am continually amazed at the wide array of people that live in this forum!...you won't find a better group of folks to ask questions of. Very little flaming in here...sure disagreements happen...but they are usually handled in a grown up manner.

So welcome to the family of KING OF SUV's!!!...man you found a nice LOW mileage beast there...!

Joe.

Welcome michael. Thats a big jump from a sub 1500 to a ex diesal with a 8 inch lift and 38's. Thats also a rare find. A 2001 with a 7.3 with 35K, dang. That truck should give u many trouble free miles.

No u dont have to be a paid member to have a sig. After 25 posts you are aloud to have a sig.

Yes, it is quite a jump, but that was part of the idea. I have been searching for several months to find just what we wanted (only had to compromise on color). We hope it lasts a LONG time, I don't want to replace it till all the kids are out of the house I guess time will tell the truth.

You mean I should have started posting earlier to get my post count up so I could start a sig?!?! I will work on that, I have lots of questions!!

actually this is one of the things I still have to figure out. I was told it was 8", but the owner could not remember what manufacturer (it has rear traction bars (probably an add on), fox shocks with hoops in the front (twin's), and it has very short blocks in the rear with new new leaves, and trackbar drop brackets).
The wheels are 16.5x12 Extreme Alloy's ?
The tires are 38x15.5x16.5 Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips

Sounds like a cool ride! Next you need to post pictures so we can all see what it looks like!

Once you hit the 25 posts you can have a signature, and it will appear in under the User CP. Keep in mind it's not an intant thing, so don't do like I did and as soon as you hit 25 start looking for it in your User CP, it took a few hours.

Nice rig! Wish my wife would go for that!

Did you remove the limited trim (door and fender) or was it like that? I have a black 00 ltd 7.3 and was either going to remove it completely or paint it black w/ black nerf bar.

anyone else have suggestions for the early ltd trim?

Yes, the limited trim (cladding?) was all removed before I got it.
I wish I could remove the badges as well without doing body work. I guess it will just take a little longer to get to that project Personally I think it looks "cleaner" without the trim.

Mine also has the electric drop down steps (There is NO way any of my kids could get into it without thes!!).

Pretty nice ride.

My wife has been using the F250 for the past two weeks while the F350 has been in the shop. The X has been turned into the tow monster and she's getting a little mad. Last night she told me in bed that she really misses her X!!!
