Well, I've been in denial for the past 3 or 4 months, but it's not going away. I have had a small leak just below the upper hose, I've tried replacing the coolant recovery hose and the upper hose and clamp, and it still leaks. It looks like it's the joint between the aluminum radiator and the plastic tank. I have spent a small fortune on antifreeze this last week, first I replaced my thermostat about a gallon. Then the drain plug decided it had worked long enough and laid down on me, another two gallons. I tried reusing the spring clamp(12 years old) it laid down on me too, another gallon. Damn stuffs not cheap either. Now this problem. Does any one have any recommendations on brand etc. Unfortunately Motorcraft brand is going to be too expensive.
None are cheap.......LMC has one for $199.95. I'd guess NPD and others are around the same.
Check with some local shops about having yours rebuilt.......they can fix all those little problems, even put new cores in if needed. Probly be about the same or maybe even a little less. Then you have someone to yell at if you have any problems with it too.
Replaced mine last year. Replacement was cheaper than repair. Rock Auto had a very good price on mine. I was getting new hoses, belts, thermostate, clamps, anitfreeze, etc, at Advance Auto. I asked about them price matchng Rock Auto's delivered price. They didn't hesitate to match it. I didn't demand, just ask nice if they could match it and save me the time of waiting for a shipment. Mine was a 2 row and I think it was about $135.
Good Luck Frank
