81 F150 stumbling issue

I have taken all of the emission stuff off of it,I have no vacumn leaks, and have replaced the carb, stock 2 barrel. No catalyic converter.Timing is OK,yet stumbles under load. Vacumn advance is working. My first guess is the distributor. It is the original with 183,000 miles. Any thoughts?

It stumbles as soon as you hit the gas, and then smoothes out? Or does it buck constantly as you are pulling a hill and holding the gas steady?

What engine is this, and you just replaced the carb with a new one, or a different one than was on it?

The first thing I would change is the fuel filter. I believe you have the type that screws into the carb correct?

Yes to the fuel filter. It could have enough flow to run the engine at idle but with a partial blockage it would not have enough flow to run under a load. I had this scenario a few months ago.

If you take the vacuum advance off and plug it, does the timing still advance when you rev the engine? (It should).

That failure is usually heat related.
