I noticed that my EGR valve directly behind the intake manifold is disconnected. The rubber pipe is just hovering over the valve, and the valve looks like is all rusty and whatnot. There is no code, I just happened to notice this. I assume a new EGR will fix it? This wouldn't be responsible for my acceleration problem would it? Can I expect improved gas mileage?
Do you mean the PCV valve? Or are you talking about the crossover that connects
to the back of the heads? The EGR is on the front of the intake and is next to the
throttle body it has a vac line and a electrical connector on top, a metal hose on the
bottom. Take the PCV out if it rattles just spray it with carb cleaner and let it dry,
put it back in and get a new hose for it too, You may want to inspect the grommet
that goes into the valve cover it can dry out and crack. Basically without the PCV
on there it is a vacuum leak and could explain a lot of issues you may be having.
There's hard line that runs parallel and adjacent to the right, passenger side exhaust manifold. It runs from a belt-driven unit, towards the firewall, and connects to a rubber hose, which goes to the rear center of the engine, then turns downward and connects to this other unit. It's mounted right at the rear of the intake manifold, like where a distributor would be located on another engine. From there a hard line like the other one runs to the back of the driver's side head. My problem is that it is not connected where the rubber hose meets this unit.
What you are referring to is the air pump system which is connected to the air pump, which is belt driven. Is the belt even connected? Shouldn't affect acceleration but may cause a minimal drop in mileage
I think you may be still confused to what the EGR is. Here's a picture of it. It's the tall round thing in the background, and he just pulled that black plug out of it. To the right you can see where the double hoses go that lead from the throttle body to the aircleaner.
Pardon me... Thanks for the correction. Yes I have no problem with the EGR valve then, (now that I know what it is). But, do you know what I have described? Haha sorry for the confusion.
