I've got one of the F150's that are eligible to get a recall replacement due to the wrong size installed. Ford sent me $100.00 to keep or go with other options, one of which is replacing the radiator with a larger size radiator. Is this replacement necessary? I'm only towing a smaller tent trailer with a canoe on top and a loaded box. I feel like keeping the $100.00 and using it for a Diablo Chip.
The way I understand it, it was an advertising mistake. That the larger size radiator isn't necessary but the public won out and Ford is giving in to install larger radiators. Do I really need it? I sure would like to get that chip! Any suggestions?
I don't know the answer to your question, but I was wondering if you could give me some information on that radiator swap. LIke what years or motors? Thanks
I have a 2000 F150 with a 5.4 litre, 4x4, auto and towing package. Call Ford Customer service. They have a system set up for this. Have your VIN number ready and they will tell you if you qualify. I found out I did and they are sending me a check. But I can also opt put of the check and get a new radiator. Swap a 25mm for a 31mm....whatever that means...heavy dutier one I guess. I'm going to have the radiator swapped. I'm now waiting for my check....yes they said it will be in the mail.
