Clicking Steering
I have developed a clicking noise in the steering of my 1987 2wd longbed. The noise is similar to a playing card in the spokes of a bike wheel when turning the steering either direction, either in-motion or stopped. My ball joints and pittman arm are all relatively new (4-5 years) and when under the vehicle, the noise seems to be coming from the steering box where it mounts to the frame.
My on-center steering has some slop, so I'm guessing the steering box is going bad. Any guesses?

Have you had someone turning the wheel while you are under there looking and listening? You should be able to find the play by wiggling the wheels back and forth while watching the linkage underneath for play.
