I have a 1999 e350 diesel cube van I purchased from Ryder. All the lights work including turn, brake, headlamps, but the marker and tail running lights don't work. Any help would be really appreciated.
This should have it's own fuse. Even though most of the lights go through the headlight switch, there are different sections to the switch with seperate fused circuits. If the fuse looks ok, I would take the switch out, and look for a melted plug or wiring. This happens once in awhile to Fords.
I put a new switch in and tested the wires out of switch box and all had strong current. I thinkI pulled every fuse, the manual was vague at best on identifying them, and everyone of them looked good. I am checking all the grounds today. Are there any grounds that are hard to see? If this goes on much longer, I will be shopping for a new one.
The brown wire is the one you are concerned with. If you had voltage on the brown wire leaving the switch, then I would look at the firewall connector.
You could also find the brown wire under the hood that goes to one of the front marker lights, and use a small battery charger to power it up, and see how many lights come on. If there is a problem, the battery charge has a circuit breaker that will protect it and the wiring.
