Transfer case handle issue
Hello everyone. I have what seems like a simple question. My transfer case shifter gets very loose after I shift it in and out of 4wd several times ('76 F-250). I look at the linkage under the truck and the nut on the outside of the mounting point for the shifter keeps untightening with use. Is there any way of making the nut not come loose by shifting the transfer case? I suppose I could always put a nut on the outside of the one that is working its way loose and tighten them together. Any suggestions?

205, 203, which one? Loc-tite red will keep it from backing off. Clean the threads first before applying it. Make sure your plastic bushings are good, and lubricated, do not overtighten the nut.

There is a plastic bushing that the arm pivots on. Yours is probably worn out or even missing. The nut should be snug but not tight. Remove the nut and check the bushing. Replace and/or lubricate. Use a new nut when re-installing. Good luck
