Smoking F150 is embarrasing

I have a peculiar problem that is very embarrassing. If I start my 2006 F150 5.4 L and shut it off within a minute or 2, the next time that I start it, it will blow out a huge cloud of blue smoke. It doesn't do this after a normal drive when the engine has been warmed up, it only does this following a short start, then shut off, then re-start (as described above). It has done this since brand new, I thought that I would wait until it was broke in to see if it went away. The truck is now 1 year old and has 7000 miles on it with plenty of TLC. This is the first new truck that I have ever owned and am sad to say that I wish that I didn't own it. Does anyone have any ideas?
Discouraged.

Is it using any oil?? What kind and weight of oil are u using, should be using 5W20 syn. blend oil, my 04 has never done that and does not use any oil in 4K which is where I change due to a lot of short driving.

definitely check the oil, and maybe even spark plugs... PCV may also be a culprit... my mustang used to let off blue smoke on decel and a bit on start up if i shut if off right after i come to a stop. i put a catch can on the pcv and that fixed it... I know these trucks are quite a bit different, but i don't see the pcv working much different...

actually that is a common thing for ohc engines -- i am not sure why but 4.6 and also 3.9 engines do this too, always after a cold start with a short run and then restart. i do not think it hurts anything and you wont notice any undue oil usage. to avoid it just run the engine longer on a cold start before shutoff and you wont see the smoke.

It doesn't use oil excessively. 1/2 quart in 3000 miles. Yes I use the recommended Motocraft 5W-20 and Motocraft filter, everything by the book.

It doesn't use oil excessively, maybe 1/2 quart in 3000 miles. This truck only has 7000 miles, still smells new inside.

What is a "catch can" that you spoke of puttting on the PCV valve?

Hmmm, I never see this happening from anyone elses truck. I hope that no Chevy, Dodge, or Nissan owners see this happening, it might hurt Fords reputation!

What are you doing that you would start your truck and shut it off after 2 mins and then restart the truck?

Ocassionally I move it out of my garage so I can work on other things. You don't have to restart it right away, just count on it to smoke the next time you start it. I never realized this, until I bought this truck, that an individual might move their vehicle short distances, but sometimes the need to do so is there. I try to avoid doing such, but irregardless, I don't think a new vehicle should do this, should it?

seems like a half quart every 3000 is about a half quart too much. I'm no mechanic but I have always been advised to watch out for oil consumption.

I do not mean to be throwing a wrench into the engine, but I have been told time and time again, that if you are seeing blue smoke in quantity on start up when it is warm, it means one of two things. A sticking intake valve, or worse case, the timing is off. Either way unless you are a qualified mechanic, I would take it to the dealer or a good reptuable mechanic.

These rigs cost way too much to second guess.

Good luck, and if you can, post the out come of this.

Oh, I am a wood worker, just to knock down the people who might think I am a mechanic.

You are correct to say that these rigs cost too much, $34600 and it smokes 10x more than my old tired trade in!

Na, I usually only see older vehicles smoking. You should have it looked at otherwise it's going to continue to bother you until you really know what the problem is or isn't.
