Smoking F150 is embarrasing
I have a peculiar problem that is very embarrassing. If I start my 2006 F150 5.4 L and shut it off within a minute or 2, the next time that I start it, it will blow out a huge cloud of blue smoke. It doesn't do this after a normal drive when the engine has been warmed up, it only does this following a short start, then shut off, then re-start (as described above). It has done this since brand new, I thought that I would wait until it was broke in to see if it went away. The truck is now 1 year old and has 7000 miles on it with plenty of TLC. This is the first new truck that I have ever owned and am sad to say that I wish that I didn't own it. Does anyone have any ideas?
Discouraged.

definitely check the oil, and maybe even spark plugs... PCV may also be a culprit... my mustang used to let off blue smoke on decel and a bit on start up if i shut if off right after i come to a stop. i put a catch can on the pcv and that fixed it... I know these trucks are quite a bit different, but i don't see the pcv working much different...

actually that is a common thing for ohc engines -- i am not sure why but 4.6 and also 3.9 engines do this too, always after a cold start with a short run and then restart. i do not think it hurts anything and you wont notice any undue oil usage. to avoid it just run the engine longer on a cold start before shutoff and you wont see the smoke.

I do not mean to be throwing a wrench into the engine, but I have been told time and time again, that if you are seeing blue smoke in quantity on start up when it is warm, it means one of two things. A sticking intake valve, or worse case, the timing is off. Either way unless you are a qualified mechanic, I would take it to the dealer or a good reptuable mechanic.
These rigs cost way too much to second guess.
Good luck, and if you can, post the out come of this.
Oh, I am a wood worker, just to knock down the people who might think I am a mechanic.
