stopped a traffic light, I touched the go peddle and the engine died for one second, then caught and ran like normal. Is this the begining of a common problem? Cam sensor?
Thats what mine did also about once a month. Replaced the CPS with one from NAPA and it still did it about once a month, but strangely, usually when it rained. So I replaced the CPS again with an OEM from Ford and it has not done it in 6 weeks including 2 rain days.
Get TWO spares (reduces your cost per unit by having them share the same shipping box), and then you have one in the glove box to be generous with if you find a fellow-PSD owner in trouble with the same issue on the side of the road.
I changed out my original one with the new gray one, even though teh original was working fine. I have a KNOWN good spare in the box, and have since bought two more just to be able to help someone else if the oportunity presents itself.
I just bought a new sensor, going to put it on tonight BEFORE I go hunt/fish/ski/ride this weekend. The old one will go in the tool box with whatever 10mm setup that was requred to remove it. Thanks
I used a deep well 10mm socket with a one inch extension. 1/4 inch drive. Gently pry it out with a common screwdriver. A flashlight would come in handy as well.
