On my way to work today my speedo started acting goofy. It was about 20mph off (I checked this by accelerating until it wouldnt anymore or 95mph) and determined that it was around 20mph off. Anyways, when I parked it, the speedo dropped to about 22mph, and it stayed there when I shut it off. I guess a trip to the dealer is probably in order, but what do you guys think could be causing this?
Mine did it for about 2 days. Same thing as yours. On the way to work, was doing about 35mph, it jumped up to 65. Its stayed at 30 mph over what the actual mph was. (It stayed at 30 when parked) Then it would drop by 5 mph each time I turned it off. It eventually went back to 0. That happened 6 months ago, and hasn't happened since.
When I went home yesterday it was down to 15, and then went to the store last night it was at 10, this morning it was back to almost normal. Drove to work, and now its back up to 25. Guess I'll have to get it to the dealer on monday...
Exact same thing happened to me at about 10k. Strange feeling to be idling through a parking lot with the speedo reading 45 mph. Dealer said there is a TSB out on the speedo hanging up. Ordered in a new instrument cluster (out of Seattle) and swapped it out on warrenty. It works just fine now at 26k.
