carb flooded?
sometimes when i start my '82 f-150 w/ 300ci and converted 3sp. tranny up i dont think i crank it enough and it starts and stalls. then i try to start it again and it wont start. i think after it stalls the carb is flooded. then after waiting almost ten min. i try to start it and it starts very hard like i have to floor as it spudders to start it. what is this?

I've got the same problem, you can start mine up and it'll run for like 5 seconds and then die, try to start it again and no go it just spins over. since my electronic choke doesn't work i have to get a screwdriver out, pop the hood and jump the solenoid (with the key left on) while manually choking it and giving it gas. after its choked and started it runs great.
Basically check to see if your choke is functioning properly, spray the choke linkages on the carb with carb cleaner and you may have to adjust the rich/lean adjustment on the choke to get it to operate properly.
