Rim/wheel split into

Well I was driving my 01 f150 4x4 with 50k down the service road and I noticed a sound and feel that I thaught was a flate front drivers side tire so I pulled to the shoulder and the front droped then I noticed the rim had split into right down the middle. any ideal what could have claused that. I put the spare on and made it home but I think it may have damaged the rotor,

wow that sucks, not sure what would have done that, i've abuse my rims alot worse than that.

By the way, your rim split in two, not into, kinda hard to understand your post.
