Hey guys I am going to rebuild my carb here over the winter and I got a idea that seems to be good. Anyone ever tried a 1-2" spacer on the carter 1bbls? It seems to work well for their big 4 bbl brothers. So I was wondering if it would give me some more kick and a little better gas milage, so I can get like 14mpg instead of 10mpg. Anybody got any insight on this idea?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Dec-02 AT 01:57 AM (EST)]The non-egr spacer like the one I posted a while back is ~9/10" already. I believe the egr spacers are about the same. Going to 2" would be interesting. I have a print I put together (DWG) if you want it to help fab up a 2" spacer. Might be tough to find those multi thread studs that long though.
I might be able to get a machine shop do a little custom work and maybe make some bolts? I wonder how much more time 2" gives it? Might try 3", cause I got the room under the hood.

Waht carb lifts (or spacing) does is give you more high end power. This may or may not help gas milage, but i will hurt low end torque. I dont know the exact priciples behind it but i just threw a 1"spacer on my luv and it revs higher and has more power at about 4k on the tach. I say try it (if money isnt tight) and if it works then you could be a trend starter . But hey good luck.
