You'd be amazed at how quickly mud daubers work, too. I was once painting the front doors of 4 duplexes, all in a row. I would do them 2 at a time, since it was hot out, going back-and-forth for the 2 coats it took on the outside. Well, these doors were recessed in a nook behind the garage and mud daubers found themselves a nice, shady place to build their tubes on the cedar trim around the front doors. Each door had a tube about 12-16" long. So, I scraped off the tubes in a few passes (had to duck and run a couple times) and went about painting. By the time I would come back to put the second coat on a door, about a half-hour later, there would be a new tube up, probably already 2-3" long.

I HATE wasps, yellow jackets and hornets...not allergic, just been stung so many times in my career at this point. One time on the ear, causing it to swell 50% for a few hours and it was still warm to the touch the next morning (16 hours later).

I love watching animals and such at work. I once sat on my back porch during a torrential downpour watching a spider build an absolutely beautiful web. It had to be close to two feet across and he (she?) did the entire thing in about two beers.....it was kinda mesmerizing.

I watched some weird wasp come flying in with a big spider it actually crashed a
few times before it made it's way to a hole it had already dug in the ground. It got
the spider there and tried pulling it down into the hole It was too big so it started
digging man that spider was tossing dirt a foot away,She kept digging and trying to
fit it in finally it made it satifactory, It stayed in a while then came out and built a
nice little hatch door and then camoflauged it with dead and live grass.
