wheel question

I have an 06 f150 scab XLT 4x4 with 17 inch wheels. What is the smallest size wheel I can put on safely? Can I go down to 15 or 16 in wheel?

Iirc, the stock caliper size and overall footprint won't let you go smaller than a 17" wheel.
