It looks pretty good, but how much are they going to want for it? I paid $3500 for my '70 Cougar, and about $6000 since then and it's not even into the body work yet. Old cars are fun, but they can get really expensive.
That would be a steal if it were here in Texas if it isn't a cancer patient. You can tie up a ton of money in sheet metal real fast. If the engine wasn't subject to water, it should turn over, and with a carb and some good gas will probably start. We just got in a 62 Vette that had been sitting for about the same amount of time, and the engine turns over fine.
A 4 speed would make it more desirable if you can find one.
If you get the car and need parts, we located a company that is Olds only, and has reasonable pricing. www.fusick.com. jd
Hold up there, something is a bit off here. That is a '68 front end (I had a '68 Cutlass Supreme hardtop coupe), but the back is '69. The back end is not easy to change, it require a new trunk lid (different from '68) a '69 only rear bumper, as well as tail lights. Looks like a '69 with a '68 hood, grille, headlights, and front bumper. Or a '68 with a '69 trunk lid, tail lights, and rear bumper.

The collector value just dropped to parts car status.
Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975 ~ Page 603 = 1968 Oldsmobile
1968: Taillamps on 1968's are horizontal and are mounted just above the rear bumper. The rear body trim, rear body panel, rear reinforcement, rear bumper and brackets, and the decklid on 1968's are entirely different than what 1969 use.
The 6th digit of the VIN denotes the year.
8 = 1968 / 9 = 1969
Is it really a 455? The engine code in on the right cylinder head. Post it, I can decode it.

I thought something looked messed up with that pic. If it doesn't bother you I'd say go for it, but it seems like either the owner doesn't know what they have or they are trying to pull a fast one on someone. If it was an all origional car with a real 455 Rocket I would be all over that car for $2500.
That is odd, then again, I know nothing about these cars. I'll have to ask the owner about that.
See the people I want to buy it from got the car from a guy that needed one of there horses really badly, so they got this car in exchange for the horse.
Apperantly they know nothing about the car, and they dropped the price to $1500... I'm gonna have to go down there and have a THOROUGH look at it.

The current owner may not know anything...just look through the left corner of the windshield for the VIN plate...the 6th digit will tell the year. The engine ID code on the right cylinder head will tell what engine it is. The usual engine is a 350.
Some 455's, btw came with a 2V carb. My 1968 Olds 88 (I sold it last yr...it's a 40K original car) had that same setup. I have a pic of the Olds' 455 engine. The engine, valve covers, air cleaner...even the oil cap are painted a light red. email me off FTE, I'll send the pic back.
