Carpet laying question

Im laying some carpet in a mobile home and i kind of ran across a problem.

When the mobile was built, in the master bedroom they built the closet over the carpet. So i ripped out the old carpet and whatnot and im just wondering what the best way to lay the new stuff in would be, without ripping the whole closet out.

Remove the baseboard trim and cut the old carpet off flush with the wall and install new carpet flush. May have to use new carpet tack strips.

Ditto.

I lived in a mobile and that's how I did it. They build them all that way.

its amazing how cheap they put them mobile homes together i bought a property with one on it and they never put any sheeting on the outside of it just stapled the vynal siding to the 2X4 studs and the whole thing is held together with staples and the floors are made of 3/4 inch pressboard

Back in 1972/73 I was the materials handling supervisor at Commodore Mobile Homes in Calgary.

We built an average product.

I remember the flooring layouts on a lot of the 12ft & 14 ft wides and how the guys had everything sectioned off before the exterior and partition walls were erected.

One of my thoughts at the time was what will they do when the carpet needs replacing.

Even in final finish if the carpet was wrong..out came the carpet knife and the cut along the baseboards.

There was no other way

My experience was that the subflooring staples are right beneath where you are trying to cut the carpet and underlay; requiring a new blade every few feet.

A hook blade or carpet blade would solve that problem (the hook blade wouldn't touch the staples and carpet blades are so sharp and thin they take almost no effort to use).
