Chrome bumper repair

I accidentally got up against a guard rail with my rear bumper at work last night in an extremely dark parking lot. I was going slow as I was expecting the curb against the tires as I didn't know the rail was there. I've got some small blemishes in my bumper from it that I would like to try and repair. I didn't hit it hard enough to dent or anything, the spots must be through the plating as I can't get them to buff out. Any suggestions on what I might use to touch them up where they won't look too bad?

If the gouges are through the plating, I don't know that there is much you can do. Possibly if you clean the area well, then apply some type of clear coat (possibly find some in a little brush bottle - like the scratch-fix paint) to keep the exposed steel from rusting, that might help for a while. Otherwise, the chrome is just like shiny paint. If you gouge the paint down to metal, the only fix is to strip and repaint or in this case, strip and re-chrome - although, you might find it cheaper to buy another bumper at a salvage yard or after market.

If you have any local platers, you may swing by their shop and see if they have any way to deal with just that spot.

Good Luck,
