odd smell thru ac vent

Sometimes you will get moisture built up in your vents which will create a musty smell when you turn them on. You can take any cleaner like lysol and spray it in there and it should start killing the smell. I have heard the best stuff to use though is Ozium ( here ). I can not remeber completely but if you turn the vent off before turning off the truck it should keep the moisture from building up as much(or keep it open?).

Make sure the condensate drain tube from the AC is open and not kinked or blocked with crap. The lysol is a good idea, if the problem persists, you may try to turn off the AC, but keep the blower running a few minutes before shutdown. This will help dry everything out before the truck sits.

If you use the recirculate in A/C mode (MAX) OR leave the HVAC in OFF mode when you shut the truck off, that will not allow the cab to breathe provided you don't crack a window. That allows any moisture buildup to mildew. That's your smell - and not healthy either. Just leave it in norm A/C or vent when you get out, and switch it back when get back in. I think the manual might say something about this too but I can't remember.
