It's inside the frame rail on the driver's side, but I remember it being farther back than the driver's door (more like rear passenger). There's a black plastic cover that has to be removed to access it. Mine had blue square buttons that just needed to be pushed to release the old filter and make sure to get the fuel filter with two tubes in and one tube out (or was that the other way around).
my 03 EB 2wd is acting up and i think its the fuel filter. Its hesitant and idling rough, ran it reallllllly low on gas the other day and im thinking it may have sucked up a bunch of crud and clogged it. this sound logical?
oh btw. sis was driving it when it was low and put premium in not knowing better ( she drives a benz) and thats when the problems started. coincidence? i put 20$ in regular today so i dont think its the fuel grade.

The fuel filter 03-05 is part of the tank. Find the corner section of the tank with the push locks pull it off the filter is in a molded section of the tank.

Do you need those special line removal tools for this procedure on an 03?
I bought a Ford Repair DVD 9 from Helm Inc) and the @#$#$ thing is bad and the replacement wont run either tried 3 PCs- they wont replace it the 2nd time. Guess I will have to get the old fashion book.
