I am thinking of getting a new muffler to put on my truck to increase the sound a little, but dont want it very loud and want to keep the side exit pipe where it is. Do yall think just chaning the muffler out to a flowmaster will increase the sound at all? I really just want to keep one exhaust pipe. Can better sound be achieved this way? engine is a 4.6L
Any will be better than a flowmaster, but just a regular SISO magnaflow(the smaller the louder, so somewhere around 4x9 or so with about a 2.5" inlet and outlet centered. They have race mufflers, polished stailess steel, etc..., but I wouldn't spend the extra money.
Got a Flowmaster 50 series si/do system. Love the sound. I think Flowmaster rules with sound. Many who like Magnaflow want something that's similar to stock(sorry Magna guys) in sound, many just like thinking the ?stainless will last longer(whatever). If you want an exhaust and sound is very important, you can't beat a 40 or 50 series flowmaster. It will last as long as you would expect(unless you live in Saltville). My 2cents only of course.
i purchased a flowmaster sido 3' and was happy with the sound, but like some of my other mods i heard of better choices,so after about 13 months i switch the a magna flo muffler .now i have better performance and cool sound. i will do my homework from now on. 06 f150 sc. 5.4 superchip, airaid cai, magnaflo, and its fun to drive.
Flowmaster is good but many say magnaflow is better cause magnaflow is better for performance? and stuff i got flow 40s on my truck love em yeah it should increase the sound a bit whether you put a magnaflow or flowmaster on
Have a Flowmaster 50 SUV mufffler and love it. Truck sounds great and i get plenty of compliments. Only a little louder than stock at highway speeds. Its a little loud first thing in the morning.
To me the Mag muff seems like more of a refined noise. The Flows I have on an older truck are loud and rough. (no cat conv on this truck). No idle noise, no highway noise from inside, but sounds very nice with a heavy foot takeoff with the Mag SIDO SS. You will hear more with a side exhaust(s) compared to rear outlets.
Has anyone seen a magnaflow cat back system with rear dual side exits? On the magnaflow website, all I can find are the straight dual rear exit, and single side front or back of tire exit. I would rather have the dual rear side exits, more of a personal preferance, but everywhere I look where I live almost every Ford has the straight back duals.
