I personaly like Headman especially the new new collector design. I've got one set of Headmans I've had on the same car for over ten years and have NEVER burned thru or leak. I saw the new design for the collector 2-3 days and it was outstandind. Shouldn't be to hard to install in your truck. One big thing a lot of folks fail to do is use top quailty Header gaskets. Believe me in the long run cheap gaskets are a pita, also get a good set of AARP header bolts. There again if you scrimp on these parts you will probably wind up fighting loose bolts or burned out gaskets. Oh and if you don't mind how about doing away with the bold font, a little rough on the eyes, thanks.
i put a set of schoenfeld on my 67 with a 351. they were made for a 302 so would prolly work great on your truck i had to do a few minor adjustments. but i bought them for the 1 5/8 tubes and 3" collectors was what i was lookin for.
On headers make sure the gasket used matches the ports on your heads . There are like 6 different sizes out there. Use the felpro gasket PN for port size. Also the position of the port can be at different heigths. On the passenger size I had to remove the starter and go in from the top. Then put the started back on soon as it was hanging inplace. You may have to jackup your engine to get clearance.
Hooker SuperComp has the largest port size of the ones I looked at. Besides being the only one that fit my Edlebrock AL heads.
i just put some on my 69 but i have a 360. the driver side is easy but the pas. side is alittle harder.i didnt jack the motor up but i did need someone to help me with it. i put on the hedman cer. coated headers with the ball n socket collector. they look great and sound great. the collector is really cool too!
i had to clearence my crossmember that the front end beams come back to. also had my motor mount off and motor jacked up a little ways for the pass side. but like i said that was a 351 little taller little wider
Go with a good set of shorty headers. I got a ceramic coated set from Summit for a real decent price. Then have your muffler shop make some two and a half inch down tubes.
You will get about the same torque as the full length hedders and none of the hassle of trying to fit them in your truck or cutting your cross member or burning up your starter etc... I threw my Hedmans in the junk pile.
