Front End Frame Geometry

Is the front end frame geometry of post 1972 2WD pickups different from the 67 through 1972 pickups. If they are the same, when did Ford finally change the geometry.

I'm asking this question since I'm trying to set up a parts correspondence list for frames, motor perches, and front suspension parts.

F-100, F-150 & some F-250 2wd's have same engine bay & chassis geometry from 1965 thru 1979. With standard cab, 2wd, virtually everything from rear cab mounts forward can be interchanged due to inherent chassis compatibility.

I will mention that on some years the rear most cab mounts are inside the frame rails, in the "X" Member, and on others they are outside the frame rails on "out riggers", But there are indentations or "bosses" stamped in cab floors for the inboard holes. Or the outrigger brackets can be installed on the inboard frame designed units. . . . .

For all intents & purposes, the frames are virtually the same which is why so many upgrade parts, such as steering boxes, Twin I beam systems, radius arms engine mount systems, steering linkage and so forth will interchange within thses years.

FWIW much of this can be figured out from Hollanders Interchange manuals, and/or by reading FoMoCo Parts books & then comparing part numbers. . . .
