Rear hatch lock

Rear hatch lock

My 2000 Limited X rear hatch will not lock all the time. Some one suggested putting gease on the rear hatch rod, but how do you get the trim off without breaking the plastic. My wife LOVES this beast so breaking anything on this thing is not an opition.

sounds like the actuator is going south. I replaced it on my 2000 a few years back. Check in the tech folder on the top of the main excurison page. It has instructions on how to replace the door locks and procedures for taking off all of the plastic on the rear door.
