Dealer put too much lube on the stud when they rotated the tires last time so the lube has been dripping on my wheels. Pulled the tire off and cleaned and relubed w/ the proper amount. Question is now, how easy should the assembly spin with me spinning it? I have the tire off turning it and it isnt turning very easy. I am having to apply a good bit of force to turn it. Is this normal? I am an idiot when it comes to these type things and am a worry wart. Should i be able to spin it very fast?
What lube did the put on the studs? I never heard of a lube on the studs. Back in the day they would put 30 weight oil on the studs. Lube effects torque of the lug nuts.
As far as the wheel spinning, there is a certain amount of bearing drag. Also, the brake pads do drag on the rotors to cause stiffness. As far as too stiff, not sure what you are feeling. With the tire on, does it spin easily? If so, I would not worry about it.
Yeah with the tire on it spins easy so i guess i am good. I started a thread about my wheels getting fluid on them and a lot of people responded that too much lube was put on them. Also is in the manual that you need to put a tiny bit on there. The title of the thread is "Is this bad" Thanks for the reply
Never heard of putting lube on a wheel stud. There is lube in the axle that could be leaking and getting on the studes. The axle seals have been known to leak.
