Removal Instrument Panel-Speedo cable

I'm trying to remove the IP but cannot see how the speedometer cable attaches to the back of the panel. I see a plastic fitting but can't tell exactly how to remove the cable from the panel.

Any advice?

Squeeze the plastic keeper and pull the cable away from the speedo head at the same time.

If you know what you are doing, it works like a charm. Thanks Dennis.

76 F150 4x4 speedo erratic

While we're on the subject. I have a 76 f150 4x4 w/ a real erratic spedo reading @ low speeds. Smooths up @ 30mph. I put in a new cable and no help. Can I clean the speedo itself?

Yep, sure can.

Use a Can of "dust off" upside down for a couple of sprays then blow it off with the can upright.

Get some speedo lube for the speed head before reassembly.
