I just got home from filling and topping off my fuel tank. It was at the full mark for about a minute then all of a sudden it dropped to the bottom as if the engine was off. The low fuel light immediately went on. Knowing I just put 30 gallons in it, I ran some errands and went home running about 25 miles. During that run home, the fuel gauge went to full for about 10 minutes then it went to empty again.
Any ideas guys? I know I can keep track of my miles but this is a nuisance.
I just went though an array of fuel gauge issues. The first thing I'd do is disconnect the plug to the sending unit and take some resistance readings. The ground wire for the sender is a common ground on the fender close to the air filter. The thread below might give you more information. Not a lot of magic, computer sends a voltage to the sending unit, sending unit is variable resister, second wire of sending unit goes to ground. Bet you have a loose connector or a grounding point that needs a little wire brushing.
