Depending on the year of your truck you may want to look at the cable where it conects to the on/off valve. It doesnt take much to brake them. there may even be a retaining clip that holds down the cable in place could be off . Just as an fyi.... It is always a good practice to cycle the heater once a month to keep the crud from building up in the heater core.

vacuum lines that drive the valves which control the flow leak- check those.

are the hoses that heat your heater core the same temp? if not, you may be blocked.

also, does your temp control **** feel like it did last year? reason i ask is because stuff can fall through the defrost vents all the way down and block the blend door from operating properly.

check the linkage between the control wire and blend door. maybe it slipped off or broke. if that looks good, the easiest way to figure out if your blend door is blocked (if you have big hands) is to pull the heater core out and look in to the blend door space with an inspection mirror and flashlight. if you have small hands, just reach in there. if the door does not completely seat, you will get cold air mixed with your heat. at 40F, the cold will win.

Also you might want to check the anti-freeze level. If it islow it will not heat properly.

Right on Eric as I stated the **** felt hard, finally had a few minutes today pulled the glove box the abs controll and the heater core cover had my wife get her skinny little hands into the duct and found a ballpoint pen. "oops" (mental note clean crap off of dash). anyhow 20 minutes max from start to finish and now a warm truck.

p.s. sent you some love (rep points)
