The engine has to go up to remove the oil pan.
Also the oil pump pickup tube has to be removed before the oil pan will come out from under the engine.
Since the cross member is so close, there is no other option.
Given the size of the oil pan, how much stuff hangs down inside it, how close the cross member is and how close the transmission tunnel is to the top of the transmission, I don't envy your task.
i have been wanting to remove my oil pan to fix leakes and install oil temp probe
I do'nt think it will come off without pulling the motor just not enough room.
any body ever get one out without pulling the motor?
I changed an oil cooler, which also requires unbolting the motor mounts and raising the engine.
Even though I have a 2" body lift on my truck, the motor did not raise to the point that I thought I could remove the oil pan.
well, if it must be done then it must be done. i know how to raise the mater, but my brother in law was saying something about using a jack to raise it. can this be done? i really think he was a lirrle drunk, and he has no idea how a diesel works( argued with him cause he tried to tell me that glow plugs ignite the fuel lol) I would think you would put it on tranny, but could see how that could cause prob. if not i will push da truck to a tree and raise it there
I have sent you an email.......... but first let's discuss why you want to replace the oil pump..........If it is due to what you may perceive as low oil pressure..
Specs are...........our pumps do volume more than pressure.
10 at hot idle
40-70 at 3000+rpm
first off do you have a manual oil pressure guage if not get one the dash guage aint wortha !@#$ pulling the motor is pretty easy i pulled mine and put the new on back in in a day
ok sorry but real quick I know this is a stupid question, but what will 20w 50 oil do in my engine? Ive just read it because the town i got my mom to pick me up some oil, and since they didnt have the delo 400 she got 20w 50 for my truck. looked on the ibottle and its for GAS ENGINES. I know there is a differance between them, what is it if any9ojne reads this do me a favor and go ahead and post i want my truck back!!!!
yep, so i cleaned the oil pan and ran some old oil i had , but was still new. I did not have all of the bolts to put bak on the pan, i guess i lost em. But I was able to put a new gasket on the oil pan without taking it off first.
