I personally use synthetic grease, but if I didn't want to spend the extra money, I would just buy a moly based grease for the suspension, and probably use it on the U-joints as well.
I am sure somebody will chime in on what the factory recommended. If you are a Cat man, use what they use on them big machines.

Cheers Mate...I was thinking of using something similar to what the earth moving industry use but was unsure on its application on these old girls!!!

I am almost sure somebody will correct me, but grease is grease, as long as its clean(and not mixed with greases with other bases), says its for what you are doing, and is applied with frequent application, it will do the job admirably.
