I'm picking up a 65 thats in better shape than my 64. However the dash in my 64 is much nicer than the 65. I also really like the looks of the 64 guage pack more than the 65.
Can I just swap everything over from the 64- the 65? Can I make my guages work?
The 64 is a 292 3 speed truck and the 65 is a 352 3 speed truck. Anyone done this before?
Mike, if maintaining original condition is not an issue the instrument panels are interchangable between 61-66. Believe the Custom Cab dash harness has an extra circuit or 2, but should not be a problem. The panel on my 65, while keeping the alt. and oil pressure idiot light, swapped cluster that included alt. and oil pressure gauge. I would go with the panel you prefer. May want to add an extra ground strap if decide to make the swap.

As I rrecall, the 61-4 trucks fuse block was part of the headlight switch plug in connector whereas the 65-6 was on the firewall....what dash does your 65 has..
The 64 fuse cluster is somewhat of a joke. I am was in a hurry to get mine running again and fix and repaired what I already had. I think now that I'm in the mood to get a little more serious I will be putting an actual fuse block and new wires so I can run more toys without worry. Had this truck when I was a kid and the hot wire to my stereo shorted out on the brake pedal one day in the drive through of Taco Mayo. It was not a fun moment and don't plan to have another electrical fire due to poor wiring.
My 65 has the plain dash with the speedo that sweeps. My 64 is a custom cab. It also has the original stereo and it has spot lights. I havn't decided if I'm going to swap the lights over or not yet. If I don't then I will have the holes in the dash that I will have to do something with.
Also My 64 was completely rewired from bumper to bumper last year. new fuse block and all. I will probably swap the harness into the 65 later.
