Whining getting louder...
Posting in both Ranger and Trans forums becasue not sure where this is coming from and will take all the help I can get!
Whining noise coming from drivetrain. Not motor - won't do it while free reving motor. Only does it when trans is in gear, any gear, and has to be engaged. Sounds similar to a blower spinning up and goes through every gear like that. Once at highway speed, it's constant. While changing gears, it dies down upon depressing the clutch, similar to a spinning down sound. It's like a "whir" or something. High pitched. Not sure what to make of it, but it's definitely a NEW sound to this truck - started about two weeks ago. Not at all familiar. Trans fluid maybe (manual)? Hoping someone has run into this before.
Mechanically, everything works as it should (for now at least). Runs really good. Strong, smooth. No clutch slipping or anything like that. Just this new noise. Got to be coming from somewhere.
fluid and add 3 to 5 oz of 30 weight oil and see if it stops the noise. It is probably the
tailshaft bearing especially if you tow or do alot of high speed driving both of which
require sooner change out schedule!!
