Low Range Button

Okay, so I searched it and I've found the most common reaon for lowrange shift failure is "freezing" of the motor and shift rod. I'm not quite sure if that's my problem. I took the switch out today, and took a look at it, and I don't get any relay noise when the lowrange button is depressed, I even took the damned thing apart and got hit in the eye with a spring... probably not my brightest moment... Anybody know why the relay itself wouldn't be "relaying", unless of course the relay's busted.... ?

although engaging 4x4 works great, low range will not engage during 4x4 or 2wd in any gear (P, N, D, 2, or 1)

btw, it's a '91 351w, e40d, shift on the go

anybody narrow it down farther than I have?

4l

First, let's ask if you did the following? To put in 4L press 4H either stopped or moving. Stop, put transmission in Neutral. Press 4L. When I fist got my Bronco I did it about a dozen times, waited an hour or two, tried to shift another dozen or so, again let the shift motor cool. The third attemp worked. Now I try to shift into 4L at least monthly to keep it free and never have problems.
