After reading many horror stories on the oil pan replacement/repair issues I though i better beat the rust. I plan on this.. simple green the underside first to degreese it, wire brush off any loose scales, also to scuff it up some, them brushing on POR-15 (if i can find it locally). Hopefully this will ward off any rust issues causing my pan to leak. Does this sound like the proper steps to take to apply the POR-15? Ive never used it before. thanks Jeff
i just used some rust preventing Rustoleum that is heat treated up to 1200*...i figure anything that prevent rust is good enough i dont need to go through the trouble to try to get that POR stuff
i just sanded it down to get rid of any small rust spots i had, hit it with a tack cloth, and sprayed a couple coats on it
