How do I put a 289 into a truck that is semi out fitted for a 390...by semi...i mean rigged up. the motor mounts (perches) are missing 1 bolt per side. and have been bent to fit. I want this thing sitting solid .
I think you can get 302 perches from 69-79 ford trucks, i think the frame is the same at the front.
You may have to drill a couple of holes but should be straight forward.
351M and 400 engines also used the same engine perches.
The perches used on 351M/400's were the same as the 302's from 1973 thru 1979.
The 1969/72 F100 302 perches are different. If you can find the 1969/72 perches, they will work. You may have to modify the 1973/79 perches to fit correctly.

Well Last night I bought a 1984 302 for 175 bucks. and she is a decent motor.
the 289 turned out to be something I DIDNT need.
so now I have to mount in the 302 and find a tranny for it.
it had a c6 originally...but it was sold to someone else.
