Wow! I guess I should get into farming if you can afford to use a brand new Lincoln LT as a work truck!

Why not just by a SD for the same amount of money?

Just asking?

well the f350 has pretty much been donated as a work truck for dads company after i jackknifed the trailer when backing up and smashing the B piller dad wasnt happy
so its not at home.. i do belive its up north at maclean lake..

and those bales weigh quite a bit. if you pick up 2 of them with the new holland tv145 versatile the back end lifts up.
we guess the hay bales wieghed in around 1800 pounds a peice.

So you jack-knifed a truck with at least a 6' bed, likely an 8', and now you're gonna pull a gooseneck with a 5.5' bed?!?

tight turn, had to back up to turn sharper, the enclosed trailer came too close.
and im not the one normally pulling stuff.
if i ever have to tow anything i have a 1979 f250 with a flatdeck.

if you read the post, the new truck is my fathers. he has alot more towing experience than me..

lol...you guys think thats bad...don't ever watch me trying to back up a trailer...very little experience means a whole pile of time... usually end up unhooking it, pushing it to the right direction, hook up again and go...

i guess its all in the practice. i've heard that a longer trailer tongue makes it easier, but my towing experience is very limited!!

Practice is the only way to learn this one boys! Find a big open space, clean and adjust your mirrors and give 'er s**t. One thing to remember ----- no matter how much backing up you do, it always goes better when nobody is around!!!!
Farm raised, more than two decades of trucking (lots of it pulling trains as well as gravel where almost every load involves gear 'R'), I chuckle when I watch some people try to back in their camper or boat!!!
Just to be an a*s sometimes, after watching someone struggle to back in their boat to the launch, I will back mine in. Its usually hooked behind the fifth wheel though!
It makes me feel not so bad for my inability to walk and chew gum or any other multitasking for that matter!!!!!!!

At 1800lbs per bale with 12 bales on the trailer. Would mean that there was 21,600lbs on that trailer, not including the weight of the trailer attached to a truck only rated to pull 8700lbs. A new f-350 reg cab 2wd dually with a 6.4L is rated for 19,200lbs for fifth wheel towing. Time to get a 450 or 550.

She`s too sweet to beat up!
Sounds like a Supper Duty job, that way you`d have two great trucks around.
