Haven't heard, but I don't see why not. There are superchargers and turbos for smaller engines. Look into the "tuners". Also, there is an electric supercharger on
e-bay for cheap. One of the guys at work got 1 for his Geo Metro and seems pleased w/ it. Supposedly it puts out 4# boost on his 1.3L.
The only problem you will run into has to do with your transmission. If you have a manual trans there is nothing in your way. But if you have an automatic, you may have problems because the modulator is vacuum operated. You might be able to find a mechanical modulator that can be linked to the throttle instead.
Really the only transmission I would trust would be the M5OD R1 5 speed. From there you will most likely have to use a MegaSquirt or some other aftermarket fuel system. Not to mention a custom manifold to mount the turbo to, or look for the turbo kit that lets you mount it in place of a muffler. The 2.9 really is a powerful engine for what it is so it is tough trying to get more power from it.
Actually, I double checked, there is a way you can use a check valve and a restrictor to use a supercharger with the A4LD, but you would need to beef up the tranny to handle the power. You also need to use a fuel pressure booster to increase the fuel pressure. You can use the factory fuel managment this way, it just increases the fuel pressure to the injectors whener you are running under boost. You would also need a fuel pump that can handle the increased fuel demand. You can either replace the in tank pump with a better one, or you can install an inline pump.
was just wondering, as it would be something different. imagine a bronco 2 meets the blower from max max, the origonal. i mean its way different than making it into a truck...
the whole pickup chop doesnt get me, but if i had the finances, another car, and the nerve, i would chop the top starting behind the front dome light, and make a hard top convertible. similar to the full size bronco. if i wanted more power i would go with a bigger engine or just a bigger truck
