If I am not mistaken..... on earlier Superduties that was where the Ashtray was. Pretty far away from the driver!!! Did away with it and this "trashbag Hook" was an easy filler....
I have heard of some on this board who go to the stealer and by the parts to put the ashtray in just so it doesn't look silly!!

It is technically supposed to be a trash bag hook for hanging a small trash bag. It is pretty worthless though.
There is an amusing thread in here on this subject though if you do a search. One of my favorites is that it is a Panty Holder for when adults are having fun.

Panty holder? How about the women that go commando? If I had the good fortune to have a woman in the Ex I would hang it off the rear view mirror to let the world know. :-) My mirror is empty at this point.

how about attaching a pole to the hitch and then putting hte panties on there. That should deff get the whole world to know haha

If I had an erection that lasted more than 4 hours I would be too pooped to call anyone! But after I'm rested I'm calling 60 minutes.
BTW, if anyone does figure out what that hook is for then let me know. If it is a hook for hanging bags then why are there none in the back for hanging grocery bags?
