well i can say now i'm not gonna need the adapter as i was off today and got the fuel pressure as low as i can with this reg , 2 pds , and played with the 94 and upon taking the oil bath off it woke up and run a whole lot better . yeah you are right that 4bolt stuff is strange compared to the other flatty stuff ive seen or collected . probably a pain to find kits for . but its still cool so i'll keep it sitting here just to look at { im weird i know }. i had no idea the stock carb was that small . as far as not liking high r.p.m's i figured that one out real quick as i managed to get into three street races . one against a "bubble" which i won , god how lame is your car when ya get beat by a heavy p/u with a flatty ? , the other my wifes p.t. { still haven't been able to live this one down } which i lost , and against my son in laws 2001{?} gmc 4x4 which spanked my a-- badly . i'd wind her up and brother she would let me know she does not like that !!!! if and when i get around to a rebuild i seen an ad in ol skool i think for a 4 bbl intake and a edelbrock 4 v for the flatty so i might check into that , maybe you to merten ? i know it aint factory but it is nice not to worry about some things when you're puttin' along in the middle of nowhere !
55 f350 Put that thing on your 53 and see how it runs! Is the bolt pattern the same as a newer Rochester 2GC? I was thinking maybe a carb from a 1977 buick regal with a 3.8 V6, would be similar cid as the 239 Flathead.
like i said merten the intake has some bolt holes on it that arent drilled out so i'll have to get it blasted first as shes pretty crusty then take it to a machine shop and have the bosses which are there , drilled out . then its got some "holes" i need to plug . i'd like to try it as as much as i talk buying new stuff i really like to use / recycle the stuff i have . i have a couple of rochester two jets { and the stromberg that came with it that got dropped by my lil' helpers } and they drop right on no issues other than the linkage being on the opposite side . again thats no prob either as i got the linkage from my 55 laying around here in a tote somewhere . i'm gonna be taking some ol' steel rims , i hope sooner than later ,to get blasted so i can put 'em on bessie , and i'll take the intake too and get it done . can't hurt to try ! i'll do some diggin' round to find a comparable c.f.m rated two jet , like you said maybe early 3.8 buick { i'll buy that new / rebuilt to avoid the headaches ! } might just be a cheap and easy way to pick up the dependability and maybe the performance .....
