I would like to upgrade (yes, I DO hear the darkside calling) to a dual master brake cylinder instead of the original single cylinder. NAPA says if I can give them a part number of a dual that would fit, they could most likely get me one.
Does anyone know of a "bolt on" replacement? 53 F100
Most MC use a standard 2 bolt mounting arrangement IIRC the Mid 5's Ford MC used a 4 bolt mount. It would not be difficult to fab a 1/8 - 3/16" thick adaptor plate to adapt the newer pattern to the old. Then you would also need to fab a link between the pedal and the MC with a length adjuster built in, you may be able to directly use or modify the original pushrod. Mid Fifty and other's sell a dual cylinder replacement kit. (I'll be selling a slightly used one soon as I pull it off my truck, I have gone to hanging pedals).
Original master is on the left, two bolts from the side....
New "replacement" has two bolts from the front by the plunger...
Not exactly what I had anticipated.
Mid-50 supplied the new one, but when I called with questions, they sent me to Classic Performance. They were helpful, but said I needed another $160 worth of parts/adapters to make it fit. A bracket for the master cyl and some type of bracket for the clutch...????
I'm gonna call Mid-50 back tomorrow.
AX... I may be interested in your 'slightly used' model....
NumberD... thanks for the PN's, I'll go by NAPA tomorrow and see what they have in stock and what they look like.
Anybody out there converted from single cylinder to dual under the boards?
