K&N Install

I have a question for all of you Ford guru's. I just finished ordering a new CAI for my truck. 98' F-150 XL supercab 4.6L and I am wondering when I go to install my new K&N Intake are there going to be ports where I can plug in my AIT and what ever other sensor is on my current stock intake or am I going to be drilling holes and what not to get things to work. I sure hope not but that's why I'm here asking all of you. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

KN&N FIPKII will come with every holes for your sensors. It's a quick install. I have one on my 5.4L and it took me 45minute with the assembly of the unit.

I could feel the difference on my old '97 5.4L. Quicker throttle response and the mid-range and top end seemed a little better according to my SOTP (Seat of the Pants) dyno.

I dont know if it made alot of differance. But you can really hear it when push the pedal down. I think it did help the mpg.

Well, KNN says that on a 5.4L give about 13HP more. It's not that bad.

More and more Ford truck owners are moving away from oil type filter elements because it dirties up our sensors. Replacing the sensor is an expensive task. K&N filters need alot of care to keep in top order, and the FIPK is not good at all, it is taking in hot air from the engine compartment. How can warmer air produce more HP?
A stock paper filter and a modified air box is just as effective and way more affordable.
Or try Volant and/or Outlaw for true cool air/ dry element filters.
Return your K&N and try the above - Get a dry filter!

I'll need to disagree with that...The FIPK come with a Heat shield that allows cold air that comes up the fender into the KN&N filter that comes throught the tubing that has a silicone spray inside that keeps the air cold.

It's good to disagree, it's your choice to run what you run. Just letting others know of different choices out there. It seems K&N has a better marketing program than the newer companies out there. You can't just go to a Checkers auto parts store to buy Volant or Outlaw, like you can K&N.

I agree with Khadma on this one.

Cooler the air, the better.

when i had my CAI on my old fold it ran alot better in the winter than it did in the summer soi agree with Khadma on this too my buddy has a setup of just pvc pipe comin out of his intake and a filter stuck on the end of that and it works great so thats just something to think about when you pay over 100-200 for your fancy boy CAI

I also used a section of ABS pipe to open the bottleneck in the stock rubber snorkel that goes thru the drivers side fender. I now have a 2.5 inch diameter vs. the stock 2 in diameter. I think I spent 3 dollars. I am using a Fram Toughguard filter - I plan to switch to the Synwash when my existing one is toast.
Like I said earlier run what you want, but don't get caught up in the marketing schemes of the big companies.
