Instruments Quit!
Hi guys
i've got a 2003 F350 6.0 that has a troubling problem- let me try to explain! A few weeks ago a 10 amp fuse (ignition fuse) blew and all my gauges quit! We replaced the fuse and it worked fine until I pushed the overdrive off and hello it went off! I replaced the fuse and then put the gear selector in drive and boom, off it went again. replaced it again- (getting tired yet?) drove it for an hour or so turned it off, cool... maybe it's done! Then I tried to start it later and, (you guessed it) it was off even as I started it. replaced fuse- drove to a nearby city, set the cruise control and (you got it) boom- it went off again! however this time it came back on by itself without replacing fuse after about 3 minutes. Now if I turn off engine and turn it back on- I don't know if it will be on or off!
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks. Steve

Sounds to me like the wire in the shift lever for the tow/haul button has chaffed and is shorting out. This is a somewhat common problem on the Super Duty. Do a search in the Super Duty forum and you can find a few threads talking about this with instructions on how to replace it. It sounds fairly easy and I want to say the part is less than $30.
